Saying “thank you” doesn’t initiate a relationship. It’s a simple thank you. Saying “Thank you” then asking the man what he means … is the beginning of a relationship, if the man chooses to participate. If a woman responds with “what do you mean for our relatonship?” she is being “the Man” … calling him out, engaging him, leading with questions.
A woman doesn’t have to change her behavior to say “thank you.” She just needs to be appreciative for what a man offers … and say “no thank you” if it’s something she doesn’t want. There’s nothing wrong with that. Believing him is irrelevant.
The man’s not selfish. He’s offering a compliment (no matter how bizarre.) A woman will know if he’s serious because he’ll keep the conversation going. If he’s not serious, he’ll stop.
